We live by the ocean and the thing about playing in the waves with your kids is that the sea is so enormous, so much bigger than any of the war and the politics and the things we fret about in this fragile world. The ocean is big like the sky and it can hold us in all our feelings and all our little humanness. It’s good to remember what we have control over and what is not in our realm to decide. Sometimes it’s just about being in right relationship.
Even though we haven't met in person, it's super lovely to see your growing family!
Your Mom and Gil just visited us upstate Saturday for lunch (we are the downhill neighbors on the pond) and it was so so nice to see them both. Proud NONA showed me some photos of the kiddos and then sent a link to this blog.
Kids are nothing short of wild and wonderful (my boys Otis and Theo are 10 and 8) and truly do expand ones heart endlessly. Enjoy it ALL!
Thanks for writing, Hardy! I used to swim in that pond before the house was built and one day there was a beautiful young fawn sleeping on a rock who woke up and we just stared at each other for a long time before she ran back to be with her mom. Parenthood is incredible. I hope our paths cross sometime, thanks for reaching out.
